Nicholas Caivano

Policy Analyst

Nicholas joined the Legal Network staff in June 2016.

At the Legal Network, Nicholas works on issues related to access to harm reduction services and to medicines, and leads the work on law reform possibilities for HIV criminalization in Canada. Before joining the Network, he completed his articles at Amnesty International as a Law Foundation of Ontario Public Interest Fellow, where he oversaw the organization’s strategic litigation efforts.

Previously, he worked for the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva, the Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism in Montréal, and Human Rights Watch in New York City. Nicholas has conducted extensive research on, and written about, the human rights aspects of health, corporate accountability, counterterrorism, international development, and the work of the United Nations. He has assisted leading counsel in numerous cases before the Supreme Court of Canada.

Nicholas holds a B.C.L./LL.B. and B.Com from McGill University. He was called to the bar of Ontario in 2016.
