James ("Jim") Burns
Jim joined the Legal Network's board of directors in 2005 and served as Secretary in 2006–2007 and as Vice President in 2007–2008.
As a senior policy advisor with the New Brunswick Department of Justice, he is responsible for a variety of policy areas, including federal-provincial matters, criminal law, aboriginal law, legal aid, family violence, and youth justice.
Since 1999, Jim has served on the board of directors of AIDS New Brunswick and twice consecutively been elected vice president. He chairs the organization's recruitment and retention committee, has participated on its governance committee, and helped to establish a health and wellness committee composed of people living with HIV/AIDS. He has also represented AIDS New Brunswick at numerous national forums.
